"The time is always right to do the right thing."
Today and throughout the year, may we all reflect on these and the many inspiring and powerful teachings and acts of a man who lived and gave his life to lead our country to genuine progress toward racial equality and civil rights. Dr. King staunchly exemplified and advocated the power of words and acts of nonviolence to accomplish seemingly-impossible goals and guide us through his unbendable principle that "men and women everywhere, regardless of color or creed, are equal members of the human family." (The King Center)
We share Dr. King's principle here at Texas REALTORS® and affirm that, regardless of each of our unique characteristics that make us who we are, we are all valued and respected members of the Texas REALTORS® family.
Learn more about the legacy and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The King Center.
Many of us fondly remember Texas REALTOR® Charles McMillan who served as 1998 Texas REALTORS® Chairman and 2009 National Association of REALTORS® President. Charles was the first African American to serve in the highest elected position for both organizations and was a strong advocate for fair housing throughout his service. NAR coordinated the commemoration below this weekend on Dr. King's birthday (January 15.)
