Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a pivotal figure in the American civil rights movement. While it's always celebrated on the third Monday of January, this year the holiday falls on his actual birthday, January 15. The day honors the legacy of Dr. King, who was a leader in challenging racial segregation and inequality through nonviolent protest. The day is often marked by community service events and reflections on Dr. King's powerful messages of peace, justice, and equality.
