You've likely seen Moe and Quincy doing some painting on P1 recently and hopefully over the last few months, you've heard in your departmental meetings that we are changing the way we park here at the building.
Let's start with "Why?" For long before the pandemic began, we've struggled with available visitor parking at the building. At one point, if all employees and tenants were present, there were fewer than 5 available visitor spots. That obviously causes problems when there are member meetings and with the legislative session coming up there will be many.
Second, since we rolled out hybrid remote work, we are utilizing fewer parking spaces each day. In fact, on average, we have around 40 staff members in attendance at the office each day, depending on the day of the week. This leaves quite a bit of vacancy in the P1 garage - space that can be better used in an effort to free up visitor parking on P2.
To that end, starting on Tuesday, November 1, all staff parking (on normal days) will be on P1 in 49 spots designated with the Texas REALTORS® logo. Because we do not have designated days that we are in and out of the office, all Texas REALTORS®-marked spots are open to all staff other than the CEO spot and one spot designated for parking only with a disability placard.
Please see this map for available parking spots.
Again, all staff is asked to park on P1 in one of these spots. Anyone parked on P2 will be asked to move down to P1 in an effort to reserve P2 for guest parking.
Earlier, the term "on normal days" was used. Obviously, 49 spots will not accommodate our team on days when we have all-staff, in-person meetings, like our November 17 benefits meeting day. On these special days, we'll use a combination of P1 and P2 to accommodate all staff. The Facilities team will monitor P1 and let us all know when to start parking on P2 on those days.
If you have questions about parking, please reach out to Moe Rodriguez.
