PTO & Holiday Reminders🎉

With the end of the calendar year approaching, we’re sharing a few important reminders about vacation, holidays, and sick time. Whether you’re checking your vacation balance, considering upcoming time off, or wondering what happens to unused leave, the information below highlights some key points to keep in mind.

Please remember to submit and record all PTO in ADP appropriately and according to policy. If you have questions about PTO or how to record your time, please contact Susan Chichester or your supervisor for assistance.

Association Holidays 🎉

Texas REALTORS® provides employees with several paid holidays throughout the year. The Association normally observes the following holidays for full-time employees:

• New Year's Day 

• Martin Luther King Jr. Day 

• Memorial Day 

• Independence Day 

• Labor Day 

• Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day 

• Thanksgiving Day 

• The Day After Thanksgiving 

• Christmas Eve 

• Christmas 

When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed on the preceding Friday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on the following Monday, unless otherwise noted.

Generally, the Association also closes at 3:00 p.m. on days immediately preceding a holiday.

Vacation Time 🏖️

A few important reminders about vacation time:

• Up to five days of vacation leave may be carried over into the following calendar year. 

• Unused vacation remaining beyond the allowable carryover will not be paid out at the end of the vacation year. 

• Whenever possible, vacation requests should be submitted at least two weeks in advance. 

• Employees are responsible for confirming that their vacation request has been approved before taking the time off. 

• Employees are also responsible for ensuring that all time away from work is recorded appropriately in ADP according to policy. 

Sick Time 🏥

Unused sick time may carry over from year to year, up to a maximum of 300 hours.

Because sick time can carry over, there is no need to use it simply because the year is coming to an end. However, employees should continue to record sick time appropriately in ADP when it is needed.

Floating Holiday 🫧

Floating holiday time is different from vacation and sick time:

• Floating holiday time must be used during the calendar year in which it is granted. 

• Unused floating holiday hours do not carry over into the following year. 

• If you have floating holiday time available, be sure to plan to use it before the end of the year.
