What's this new Zoom update all about?

You may be seeing a new banner across the top of your Zoom desktop app encouraging you to update to the new Zoom Workplace. Zoom Workplace is Zoom's latest upgrade, designed to make team communication and collaboration smoother and more intuitive, especially in remote and hybrid work setups.

Here’s what you can look forward to and how you can update your current Zoom application to Zoom Workplace.

New Features in Zoom Workplace:

• Zoom Scheduler: Streamline your meeting planning with Zoom Scheduler, which integrates directly with your calendars. Create slots of availability that team members or external partners can easily book, reducing the back-and-forth typically needed to schedule meetings.

• Enhanced Collaboration Tools: Zoom Workplace includes innovative features such as Zoom Docs for document collaboration and Zoom Huddles, which offer a virtual space for more casual, drop-in interactions to boost the team spirit and foster quick discussions.

• Personalized User Experience: Customize your virtual workspace with personal backgrounds, widgets, and layout choices that suit your working style, making your digital workspace feel uniquely yours.

• Simplified navigation: The simplified navigation bar at the top to make it easier for you to organize and find the tabs you use most often. You can drag and drop tabs into the order you prefer. 

• Combined meetings and calendar view: If you want a more connected view between your calendar and meetings, you can combine them into one tab with a traditional calendar and a new agenda view. Go to your online account settings to enable this.

• New color themes: You can choose from new color themes to suit your mood or opt for Zoom’s classic dark or light themes (in your desktop app settings).

• Customizable meeting toolbar: In meetings, you’ll see a simplified toolbar where you can turn on AI Companion, share your screen and documents, and find host tools. You can customize the toolbar by dragging and dropping items (including from the “More” menu) into place.

• Multi-speaker view: Also in meetings, you have the option to turn on a new multi-speaker view, which highlights people who are actively speaking in the meeting. Go to “Views” in the top right corner of the meeting window to activate it in meetings with more than five participants.

How to update to Zoom Workplace:

• Click on the banner at the top of you Zoom window that mentions the availability of Zoom Workplace;

• If you don't see that, in your settings, you can find available updates; or

• Visit the Zoom Download Center.

• Each option will walk you through the process of downloading the new version which will automatically replace your current version.
